Be There When Houston Says “Black Nurses Matter.”

This proclamation is more than a line on paper—it is public acknowledgment of Black nurses who have carried Houston’s health on their backs with little recognition or protection.

The proclamation ceremony is a free civic event held by the City of Houston and is typically swift and to the point. If you blink, you can miss it—but the impact is undeniable.

After the ceremony, the community will gather for a ticketed celebration where Black nurses and supporters can:

  • Stand in community during a history-making moment
  • Connect with Black nurses across Houston
  • Celebrate this recognition together
  • Build meaningful personal and professional relationships
